The secret is in the sauce
The origin of Aston Lucas Gourmet began in the region of Abruzzo in central Italy.
When Finuccio (or Fino as he was affectionately known) arrived in Melbourne in 1955 he decided to take what he’d learnt from his mother’s passion for home cooking and start a small catering business. Fino specialised in traditional Italian cuisine, catering for private functions such as weddings, many of which were held at the iconic Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton.
During this time Fino created his secret homemade pasta sauce. When his son, Renzo, joined the family business, Fino passed this family secret down to Renzo who has been lovingly making his father’s recipe ever since.
Enter 2020, when an opportunity came about to fill a gap in the ready-to-eat meals market, we took that opportunity and created the Artisan Pasta Co.
Renzo and Sam kept the Italian classics - lasagne, eggplant parmigiana, spinach and ricotta cannelloni and gnocchi bolognese but also created a delicious gluten free and vegan range including gnocchi pesto and the new flavour - gnocchi beetroot and kale.
Artisan Pasta Co was a roaring success! But they didn’t stop there.
The demand for a variety of locally made, quality ready-to-eat meals was high so the team got to work creating a selection of Gourmet-to-go meals including fresh deli sandwiches, wraps & arancini, divine desserts and ready-made protein meals!
Because the menu was growing, Sam and Renzo decided to house Artisan Pasta range along with the new products being developed under the name Aston Lucas Gourmet.
As Aston Lucas Gourmet the company was able to showcase and embody their vision of offering a wide selection of products all -
locally made with quality ingredients & always delicious!
